AVX-1 - AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) Voice eXpander (rack)

This very rare voice expander was produced for getting additional AWM sounds with small editing abilities.
It has the same AWM tone generation abilities as the HX, and can add up to 8 waves/wave packs per sound.
As the FVX-1 and in contrast to the regular electone-connected expanders it wasn't designed to fit
on/below the electone, but to sit along with other racked devices on the rack mount and be played via MIDI.
But, this instrument was dead shortly after its birth, because of all the mechanical issues and cost that were
involved in putting together each sound, while it could be done automatically in those days' synthesizers such
as Kurzweil and Roland. And all the other companies were beginning to catch up fast.. Even Yamaha itself produced the TX16W sampler (1987) shortly afterwards and SY-77 (1989).
